Review on 2nd Meeting

1. Who attended? 26 students out of 27 attended the 2nd meeting at Kitchen 1.

2. What were carried out during the 2nd meeting?
(a) Brainstorming session on types of items (performance) that can be carried out;
(b) Brainstorming session on types of souvenirs that can be presented to host family;
(c) Checking on the autobiography;
(d) Reviewing on the pre-investigation project on Vietnam;
(e) Informed students that those who do not complete their assigned task will be given a cross. Student who chalked up the most number of crosses will be required to carry out a task as given by the CIP group. In addition, the student who performed the best during the CIP will be given a reward.
(f) Group D2 was disbanded.

3. Things to be done prior to the 3rd meeting (20th Aug, 2.30pm @ Kitchen 1):
(a) To finalise on 2 performance items - one for sub-group and another for entire group (all the CIP members)
(b) Students who failed to present their autobiography during the 2nd meeting will need to present it to either Miss Danz Tan or Mrs June Ong by 15th Aug;
(c) All groups to email Mrs June Ong on the source of their research on 'pre-investigation on Vietnam' by 16th Aug;
(d) Vinod, Harish Kumar, Symir, Bryan, Muhd. Harith Danish & Jing Hui to submit a photocopy of their passport (to include passport expiry date) to Miss Danz Tan before the september break.

Grouping for Pre-Trip Investigation

If your group is unsure of which topic you are assigned to, please look at the following.

1. Geography of Vietnam (Group B1)
Find out about the size of Vietnam’s population, size of the country, major cities, type of government, number of ethnic minorities and other geographical information on the country of Vietnam.

2. History of Vietnam (Group C2)
Find out briefly about the governments which ruled Vietnam from 1800s to the present day. You may present your information in the form of a timeline.

3. Religions in Vietnam (Group D2)
Find out about the main religions in Vietnam.

4. Festivals in Vietnam (Group C1)
Find out about the main festivals celebrated in Vietnam.

5. Etiquette in Vietnamese Homes (Group A1)
Find out about what are considered as good manners when visiting a Vietnamese home

6. Superstitions in Vietnam (Group D1)
Find out what are considered to be ‘good luck’ and ‘bad luck’ in Vietnam.

7. Vietnamese Cuisine (Group B2)
Find out what are the different kinds of food and drinks taken by people in Vietnam.

8. Vietnamese Greeting (Group A2)
Find out what are the things you should and should not say when meeting a Vietnamese for the first time. Also find out how you should address people of different ages and status (eg. a teacher, uncle/aunty, and your peer).

These handouts are to be neatly filed into your white folder. Those without the worksheets, please approach Ms Danz Tan before 7 Aug.

1. Autobiography
2. Pre-Trip Investigation (to be done in MS Word and sent to Mrs June Ong via 'asknlearn' email before 7 Aug)

1st Meeting - 23rd July @ the AVA Theatre (Postponed to week 6: 30th July)

Take note that our first meeting will be postponed to one week later, there will be no change to the venue and time.

Do turn up punctually at the AVA Theatre for our 1st CIP meeting immediately after school on wednesday. Below are some of the items that you are required to bring for the meeting:
1) A flat white file
2) A photocopied piece of your passport (make sure the latest expiry date is included in the photocopy)
3) A pen
4) lastly, a positive attitude!!!!

Be punctual.

(Do update the teachers if you are unable to attend any of the meeting in advance.)
